Computing
At Anderton Primary School, we understand that technology is changing the world around us every day. Through Computing we equip our children with the skills and knowledge to participate safely and independently in an ever-changing world which is increasingly influenced by technology.
It is our intention to enable children to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to use information in a discriminating and effective way. We want children to know more, remember more and understand more in computing so that they leave primary school computer literate.
Computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners and it is our intention that children have every opportunity available to allow them to achieve this.
Our computing curriculum is based on the ‘Teach Computing’ resource which has been adopted by our school as the starting point to our children’s learning in computing. Each term we focus on different areas of online safety using both our PSHE scheme ‘One Decision’ and the ‘Project Evolve’ resource. We regular discuss current topics around online safety with children and ensure that we keep our children safe when accessing technology in school as well as giving them the tools and knowledge to stay safe online at home.
We have the provision within school to allow children to access one to one devices during lessons where necessary. We use a variety of operating systems and technologies to ensure that our children are literate with a variety of platforms.
If you have any questions about the Computing curriculum, please contact Mr O’Donohoe.
As part of our online safety offer we subscribe to Knowsley CLC who provide use with monthly newsletters as well as virtual sessions and videos to help parents to support their children in being safe online. Please follow this link to find videos to support parental controls on a variety of platforms.
