About Us

Anderton Primary School is a community school with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The main building was built in 1910 and has been extended and modernised to meet our needs. It serves the inter-linking villages of Anderton, Adlington and Heath Charnock. Some children attend from Chorley and Horwich. The school is a one-form entry school with seven classrooms and the intake number is 30.

We prioritise the safety, happiness and well-being of the whole of our school community. We provide a vibrant and challenging curriculum, which reflects the aims and philosophy of the school. Subjects are taught to meet the needs of all learners, with appropriate support and challenge, so that every child experiences success and achieves his or her potential. Regular school visits extend the curriculum and visitors to school enrich the children’s experience of the wider world.

Children are usually admitted in the September of the academic year (September 1st – August 31st) in when they become five. Parents who have children below school age are invited to enter their child’s name on a list which is used to contact them about future events. They will be sent information booklets and forms in the year before the child is due to start school. Visits to the school by the child and parents are also very welcome.

Anderton Primary School’s admissions policy follows the guidelines for community schools. Please contact Lancashire County Council to find out about their admissions arrangements.
